Application of the ROE scale to the evaluation of the quality of life of patients with external nose deformity and nasal septum deviation before and after surgery

Abstract: Objective To investigate the improvement in the quality of life of patients with external nose deformity and nasal septum deviation after nasal endoscopy assisted functional rhinoplasty. Methods The reliability and validity of the rhinoplasty outcome assessment scale(ROE)were analyzed. The outcomes of the patients with external nasal deformity and nasal septum deviation, who received functional rhinoplasty assisted by nasal endoscopy before and after surgery, were compared using the Chinese translated ROE. Results The ROE scores before and after surgery were 38.622±18.136 and 76.603±6.761, respectively. The difference was statistically significant(t=14.478, P<0.001). Conclusion Using ROE for the evaluation, nasal endoscopy assisted functional rhinoplasty can improve the quality of life of patients with external nasal deformity and nasal septum deviation.
