OSAHS may affect the cardiovascular, nervous, and endocrine systems, resulting in series of concurrent symptoms. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a protein produced by brain tissues. BDNF is the most abundant and widely distributed member of the neurotrophic factor family. Recent years, a number of studies suggested that the expression of BDNF was often abnormal in OSAHS. This paper summarizes the latest research results, and the role of BDNF in the pathogenesis mechanism will be reviewed to bring up the possible clues for further study.
