Category and disease classification of voice medicine

Abstract: With the improvement in living standards, the demand for voice has also increased. This sets higher requirements for voice science practitioners. However, at present, there is still a certain degree of confusion in the definition of voice science and the classification of voice disorders, which also leads to difficulties in clinical practice. In view of this situation, we define the category of voice science in this study. In addition, the classification of voice diseases is proposed, based on the previous classification of voice disorders and our understanding of voice diseases. Further, this paper lists the important roles played by academic societies related to voice science. We hope that some of the concepts in this paper will be beneficial for the standardization of the diagnosis, treatment, and classification of voice disorders in the future.
