Clinical value of the acoustic reflex in patients with myasthenia gravis

Abstract: ObjectiveTo study the clinical value of the acoustic reflex in patients with myasthenia gravis. Methods16 patients who were diagnosed as myasthenia gravis with initial head and neck symptoms were determined by a pure tone audiometer and acoustic immitance measurement and then the acoustic reflex was reexamined 30 min after injection of Neostigminum sulfate 0.5~1?mg. Results13 patients (81.3%) had positive results. ConclusionThe acoustic reflex has advantages such as sensitive, convenient and so on, and is an objective, reliable and atraumatic examination in diagnosis and surveillance of myasthenia gravis.
