Abstract: Allergic rhinitis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the immune imbalance of Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg response, and its development is affected by a variety of congenital and acquired factors. As a type of pattern recognition receptors, Toll-like receptors(TLRs)play an important role in the nasal immune defense against external pathogens and in the development of adaptive immune response for the close relation with the maturation and differentiation of T cells. TLR agonists have shown advancements in the immunotherapy of airway inflammatory diseases such as allergic rhinitis and asthma. This article summarizes the research progress on TLRs in the development and treatment of allergic rhinitis.

Key words: Toll-like receptors, Allergic rhinitis, Lipopolysaccharides
