Abstract: Objective    To evaluate the effectiveness of oxymetazoline nasal spray in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) patients with nasal obstruction by nasal continuous positive airway pressure(nCPAP) therapy. Methods    60 patients diagnosed as moderate to severe OSAHS with nasal obstruction underwent a five-night nCPAP therapy.  They were ramandly divided into oxymetazoline therapy group and non-oxymetazoline therapy group before using nCPAP. The ESS score and the differences of effective nCPAP pressure before and after oxymetazoline therapy were analyzed. Results    The ESS score were significant reduced after oxymetazoline therapy, with a significant decreased effective treatment pressure. Conclusion    Oxymetazoline nasal spray can reduce nCPAP pressure in the treatment of OSAHS patients with nasal obstruction. nCPAP compliance could be improved due to the reduction of the pressure.
