MGMT gene associated with head and neck cancer

Abstract: As a main repair enzyme of DNA alkyl damage, the protein O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase protects genes from mutation and carcinogenicity caused by alkylating. MGMT epigenetic regulation is the principal mechanism affecting its expression. There is a mutually contradictory issue of decreased expression of MGMT closely related to tumor occurrence and development and high expression resistant to alkylating chemotherapy.  Single nucleotide sequence mutation of this gene locus is possibly associated with cancer incidence risks. In this paper, MGMT gene researches of head and neck cancer were reviewed.
