Abstract:

Objective    To investigate the application of Da Vinci surgical system (DVSS) assisted with CO2 laser in the surgical treatment of tumors at the hypopharynx and the tongue base. Methods    Clinical data of two cases of tumors at the hypopharynx and the tongue base, which were surgically removed by Da Vinci surgical system assisted with CO2 laser, were reviewed. Advantages and disadvantages of such approach were discussed. Result    With DVSS and CO2 laser, two tumors were successfully removed without any complication. Conclusion    DVSS assisted with CO2 laser is recommended in the surgical treatment of tumors at the tongue base and the hypopharynx due to such advantages as satisfying exposure, small trauma, convenient manipulation, few complication and rapid recovery.
