Clinical efficacy of Bidouyan oral liquid in combination with low-dose clarithromycin tablets for chronic sinusitis

Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical effect of Bidouyan oral liquid in combination with low-dose clarithromycin tablets in treatment of chronic sinusitis. Methods Eighty-six patients with chronic sinusitis were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, forty-three patients in each group. The patients in both groups received clarithromycin tablets 250 mg per time, once a day, besides patients in the treatment group were given Bidouyan oral liquid 10ml for per time, three times a day. Changes of visual analogue score, nasal endoscopy Lund Kennedy score and paranasal sinus CT scanning score were measured before and after a three- month treatment. Results The VAS core, nasal endoscopy and sinus CT scan score of the treatment group were significantly decreased (t=21.23, 30.23, 25.81, P<0.05), and compared with the control group, the difference was statistically significant (t=10.21, 12.79, 9.58, P<0.05). The total effect rates in the treatment group and the control group were 83.72% and 65.12% (U=752.5, P<0.05). Both groups had no obvious adverse reaction. Conclusion Bidouyan oral liquid in combination with low-dose clarithromycin tablets treatment has significant clinical efficacy on chronic sinusitis.
