Abstract: To record and analyze the vestibular evoked myogenic potentials(VEMP) in vertigo patients and obtain the messages of saccular function. MethodsVEMP was performed on 15 patients with Meniere′s disease and 16 patients with sudden deafness and vertigo. The results were compared with those of the caloric test. ResultsThe waves of p13 and n23 appeared 100% in the normal subjects, but disappeared 30% in Meniere′s disease and 50% in sudden deafness with vertigo. There were 3 kinds of manifestations of VEMP: normal response,no response and lower amplitude in disease sides. ConclusionThe VEMP test is helpful in evaluating the saccular function in clinics.
