Abstract:

Objective    To explore an effective surgical treatment for mandibular coronid fracture. Methods    10 patients with mandibular coronid fracture were operated by the mandibular-vestibular approach. The incision ran from the front edge of mandibular ramus to the first molar along the external oblique line of the mandible. Fractured coracoid processes were well exposed and then removed after carefully stripping off the temporalis adhension to the coracoid process. Results    All the patients  were well healed with satisfactory mandibular motor function after 6 to 12 months′follow-up.  Conclusion    Surgical removal of fractured mandibular coracoid processes via intraoral mandibular-vestibular approach is simple and effective.
