Clinical analysis of palatine tumor in 61cases

Abstract:

Objective   To discuss the clinical features and treatment principle of palatine tumors. Methods   61 patients with palatine tumors including 44 benign tumor and 17 malignant tumor cases were enrolled. All the benign tumors underwent local resection, while all the malignant tumors underwent extended resections. Topical/neck flap and acellular dermal matrix were applied to repair the defect. Two patients of squamous carcinoma received radiotherapy after the operation. Results   No recurrence was found in 44 benign tumors after the operation. Among the malignant tumors, one malignant transformation of mixed tumor was noted with in the 11 patients and was in progression after two years of local recurrence,and one squamous carcinoma resulted in lung metastases in 1 year after the operation. Conclusion   Palatine tumors with benign tumor is given priority to. Malignant tumors should undergo radiotherapy according to the situation and restoration of the soft palate function.
