Effect of H-uvulopalatopharyngoplasty on obstructive sleep apnea
hypopnea syndrome

Abstract: To investigate the curative effect of peri-operative treatment and H-uvulopalatopharyngoplasty(H-UPPP) on obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome. Methods41 patients were treated by continuous positive airway pressure for 1 week. Then tonsillectomy and H-UPPP were performed. ResultPSG showed the total response rate was 82.9% on the 6th month post-operatively. All signs were improved or disappeared. ConclusionH-UPPP can effectively improve the symptoms of OSAHS and keeps the physical function of uvula and the basic construction of pharynx and prevents velopharyngeal insufficiency.
