Abstract: To investigate the feasibility and clinical value of hard palate shortening in combination with lateral pharyngoplasty(HPS-LPP) in treatment of OSAHS with recurrence after uvulopalatopharyngoplasty(UPPP). MethodsHPS-LPP was performed on 8 patients. The pre-and post-operative scores of polysomnography(PSG), Muller test and cephalometric data were compared. ResultsNo apparent complications occurred, and the clinical symptoms were alleviated. Both the apnea hyponea index(AHI) and the lowest SaO2 (LSaO2) were improved in 7 cases. ConclusionThe volopharyngeal cavity can be effectively enlarged by HPS-LPP, which may be a revision surgery for recrudescent cases after UPPP.
