Abstract: ObjectiveTo determine expression of glucocorticoid receptor alpha (GRα) in facial nucleus and peripheral lymphoid tissues. MethodsA rabbit model of facial nerve injury was established and facial nucleus and cervical lymph nodes were taken out after 24?h, 48?h, 72?h, 7?d, and 14?d to observe expression of glucocorticoid receptor alpha using immunohistochemistry. ResultsExpression of glucocorticoid receptor alpha was detected in facial nucleus and peripheral lymph cells and began to increase at 48?h in the facial nucleus at 72?h in cervical lymph nodes. ConclusionsExpression of glucocorticoid receptor alpha was detected in the nuclei and cytoplasm in facial nucleus and peripheral lymph cells and was increased after facial nerve injuries. Local inflammatory reaction triggered by nerve injuries lasted for a longer duration than that caused by mere traumas.
