Treatment of traumatic optic neuropathy with methylprednisolone

Abstract:

Objective    To compare the efficiency of methylprednisolone and dexamethasone in the treatment of traumatic optic neuropathy. Methods    58 cases(65 eyes) with traumatic optic neuropathy were randomly divided and the therapeutic effects were analyzed. In the treatment group, 31 eyes were treated with methylprednisolone,while 34 eyes were treated with dexamethasone in the control group. Results    There were significant differences between the two groups.In the methylprednisolone group, effective cures were 48.4% while the control was 29.432%(P<0.05). Conclusion    Methylprednisolone is better than dexamethasone in the treatment of traumatic optic neuropathy.
