Abstract:

Objective    To observe the effect of nasal septal reconstruction in treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR) with nasal septal deviation. Method    260 cases of AR with nasal septal deviation were  treated by nasal septal resconstruction, 22 of whom were also treated by partial inferior tubinectomy. Results    According to the treatment response assessment standard of the Chinese Society of Otorhinolaryngology, 187 cases (72%) had marked effect, 49 cases(19%) had effect, and 24 cases(9%) had no effect, and thus the total effective rate was 91%. 15 cases(6%) recurred after being followed up for  1~2 years. Conclusion    Nasal septal reconstruction can destroy the nasal reflect and sneezing reflect receptor of the anterior part of the nasal interior and exterior wall, lower the trigger point of the attack of AR, lower the excitability of the nasal vagus nerve, ease vasodilatation, and reduce glandular secretion. The operation is safe and effective in the treatment of AR.
