Abstract:

Objective   To evaluate the presentation, diagnosis and treatment of malignant melanoma of the nasal cavity and sinus. Methods   The clinical data and information of 11 cases of sinonasal melanoma enrolled in our hospital from January 2000 to November 2011 were reviewed. Results   The patients were 7 males and 4 females, aged from 46 to 82 years(mean 65.7 years). 7 patients received surgery plus radiotherapy, 2 surgery plus chemotherapy， 1 surgery  alone and 1 chemotherapy alone. The 1,2 and 3year survival rates post-operation were 81.82%, 36.37%, and 9.09%. Immunohistochemical staining is important in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma. Conclusion   The key to better prognosis is early diagnosis and reasonable treatment.
