Abstract: To assess the association of healthrelated quality of life(HRQoL) with the polysommographic parameters and the excessive daytime sleepiness(EDS). Methods: Ninetysix patients with OSAHS were assessed the HRQoL by using the SF36 and the EDS by using the Epworth sleepiness scale(ESS). The association between each domain on SF36, the polysommographic parameters and ESS score were examined by Person linear correlation. Results: ESS scores positively correlated with the arousal index and AHI and negatively with the lowest arterial oxygen. The factors significantly correlated with AHI were the physical functioning and the general health subscales of the SF36. Only the body pain significantly correlated with the mean lowest SaO2. Among the SF36 subscales, the physical functioning and the role of physical subscale correlated with the arousal index. Conclusions: Several subjective complaints and subscales of the SF36 correlate significantly with a frequency of SDBrelated arousal. Patients perceive that their quality of life has been impaired more by an organic health problem than by an emotional problem.
