Abstract:
Objective To explore the analysis value of computerized visual-field examination during treatment of anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION). Methods 60 patients (84 eyes) with AION were observed. Visual acuity and visual field were measured with logarithmic visual acuity chart and perimeter before and after therapy. Results After 1 month of medication, 24 cases(28.6%) were cured , and the therapy was obviously effective in 16 (19.0%) , effective in 8(9.5%), and ineffective in 36(43.0%). The visual acuity of 24 among these ineffective 36 cases was not increased, but the percentage of the visual field defect decreased by more than 40%. The symptoms of the patients were relieved. The visual sensitivity was elevated in the defect area of the visual field. The mean sensitivity was obviously improved, and the mean defect and loss variance were decreased significantly. Conclusions Computerized visual-field examination plays an important role in evaluating treatment effect of AION. The change of perimetry is more explicit than that of visual acuity in treatment evaluation.
