Abstract: Objective: To explore the association between chronic suppurative otitis media(CSOM) and sensorineural hearing loss(SNHL). Method: The bone conductive hearing threshold was tested in 168 CSOM ears of 135 cases and 66 healthy ears of 66 patients with unilateral otitis as controls. Results: The bone conductive hearing threshold in all otitis groups was remarkably higher than that in control group, and it was related to the type of otitis and duration. Conclusion: CSOM can result in SNHL,and the hearing loss degree is positively related to the pathological changes and disease duration.
