Effects of triamcinolone acetonide treatment for diabetic macular edema

Abstract: To evaluate the therapeutic effects and security of intra-vitreous injection of triamcinolone acetonied (TA) for diabetic macular edema. Methods26 patients with diabetic macular edema were treated with intravitreous injection of 4mg TA. ResultsDuring 6 months follow-up， the visual acuity of all patients had improved in varying degrees. Fundus fluorescein angiography（FFA）showed a significant decrease in macular leakage， even no leakage in some patients. Optical coherence tomography（OCT）also showed a significant decrease in central macular thickness. Macular edema was improved in all patients, and the intraocular pressure increased after 7 days and was controlled in one month. Pseudoophthalmia was found in 1 patient. ConclusionTA is effective and safe for diabetic macular edema.
