Abstract: Objective To evaluate the expression of immunological markers in middle ear effusion in children with secretory otitis media. Methods The research group included 30 patients with secretory otitis media, who were treated in our hospital from December 2016 to December 2017, while 30 healthy children were selected as the control group. The percentages of CD4+T and CD8+T cells and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio in the peripheral blood of the two groups were compared. The levels of IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6 in the middle ear effusion and plasma between the two groups were compared. The correlation of CD4+T and CD8+T cell values and IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6 in middle ear effusion was analyzed. Results The percentages of CD4+T and CD8+T cells in peripheral blood of the study group were significantly higher than that in the control group, and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio was significantly lower than that in the control group with a statistically significant difference(P<0.01). The levels of IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6 in the middle ear effusion of the group were significantly higher than that in the plasma, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01). The levels of IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6 in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01). Pearson linear correlation analysis showed that the levels of IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6 in the middle ear effusion of the group had a significantly positive correlation with CD4+T and CD8+T cell values in peripheral blood(P<0.01). Conclusion Secretory otitis media is closely related to the strong immune response and the phenomenon of significant rise in the CD4+T and CD8+T cell subgroup. Additionally, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6 showed a certain clinical significance in diagnosing and managing secretory otitis media in children.
