Abstract:

Objective  To evaluate the application of image guidance in the surgical treatment of nasal inverted papilloma . Methods  Sixty-eight patients with nasal inverted papilloma were hospitalized and underwent operations. They were divided into two groups. Group 1 were hospitalized from May 2001 to Dec. 2004 and all underwent endoscope or/and classic operation. Group 2 were hospitalized from Jan. 2005 to June 2007, and all underwent endoscope or/and  classic operation  using an image guidance technique. Results  The relapse rate of group 2 was significantly lower than that of group 1(P<0.05).  Conclusion  Image guidance technique helps to reconstruct the 3d structure with accurate positioning. It is not influenced by tissue displacement and complicated anatomical structure, so it can strikingly lower the relapse rate.
