Abstract:

Objective     To discuss the methodology and effect of intra-capsular scratching in treating pseudocyst of the auricle. Methods    96 patients with pseudocyst of the auricle (23 of them suffered relapses after being  treated with different  methods in other hospitals) underwent  intracapsular scratching, tapping, triamcinolone injection and washing as well as plaster casting. Results    After 6 to 12 months following-up, a satisfactory curative effect was obtained and no relapse, infection or ear deformity was found in 94 patients. 2 patients suffered a relapse 2 weeks and 3 weeks after the treatment respectively, and were cured after a second intracapsular scratching. Conclusions   The intracapsular scratching method has less trauma, and full intracapsular scratching can destroy the inwall, decrease the effusion, and ensure adhesions between the inner walls.
