Abstract:

Objective     To observe the clinical efficacy of self-made surface molds in the traction and fixation of zygomatic arch fractures and its capability to prevent complications. Methods      26 hospitalized patients who voluntarily accepted the self-made surface molds for the external traction and fixation were recruited. Then,  postoperative complications, such as fracture dislocation and local infection, and the fracture healing time  were observed. Results       The fixations of the 26 patients were  smoothly removed4 weeks later. X-rays showed satisfactory reposition, blurred fracture lines, and good mouth opening capacity without postoperative infection.  Conclusion      The self-made surface molds as a postoperative adjuvant treatment of external traction for zygomatic arch fractures show good clinical efficacy and can prevent complications.
