Perforation of the nasal septum as a complication of nasal  endoscope surgeries (with a report of 7 cases)

Abstract:

Objective       To explore the causes and preventions of perforation of the nasal septum after nasal endoscopic operations. Methods       7 cases of nasal septal perforation were retrospectively analyzed. Results      Application of local or systemic glucocorticoid before endoscopic surgery, systemic diseases, operating damage,  excessive pressure and prolonged period of nasal pluggings can lead to perforation of the nasal septum. Conclusions        Treatment of systemic diseases, preoperative medications, careful operation, type and pressure of nasal pluggings, and local regional dealing after the operations should be considered before the operation so as to avoid perforation.
