Abstract: Objective    To explore the influence of oral appliance therapy on the anxiety, depression and psychological state of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) patients. Methods    48 mild or moderate OSAHS patients were treated with oral appliance. The PSG examination, ESS, SCL-90, SAS and SDS questionnaire were adopted to evaluate efficacy of oral appliance, anxiety, depression and psychological state in all patients before the treatment and 6 months after the treatment. Results    The objective and subjective symptoms of OSAHS patients were significantly reduced. The scores of psychological state before the treatment were significantly higher than the average scores of Chinese norm. After 6 months treatment, the scores of anxiety, depression and psychological state in OSAHS were significantly reduced compared to those of pre-treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion    OSAHS patients are more anxious and depressive than the normal. Oral appliance treatment can conduce to mental rehabilitation of OSAHS patients.
