Abstract: To explore the effect of puncture and intubation through cricothyriod membrane on acute laryngeal obstruction. Methods: From July 1998 to March 2005, 286 patients with acute laryngeal obstruction had received the puncture and intubation through cricothroid membrane, and their clinical data were retrospectively studied. Results: All operations were successful, and the surgical time of puncture was less than one minute and the bleeding amount was less than 3?ml. No complication was found after operation. Conclusion: This surgical procedure is safe, effective and easy for acute laryngeal obstruction.
