Expression of ABAD/HADH Ⅱ in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and vocal polyp

Abstract: To determine the expression of ABAD/HADH Ⅱ in human laryngeal carcinoma and to investigate whether their expressions relate to proliferation of laryngeal carcinoma cells. Method: Expression of ABAD /HADH Ⅱ was detected in patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma or vocal polyp by immunohistochemical method. Results: ABAD /HADH Ⅱ mainly expressed in the cytoplasm of laryngeal squamous cell cancinoma cells, especially of the proliferating cells. The immunohistochemistry result indicated that the expression of ABAD /HADH Ⅱ was significantly higher in the squamous cell cancinoma than in the vocal polyp (P<0.05). Conclusion: The expression of ABAD/HADH Ⅱ in the laryngeal squamous cell cancinomatissues is significantly higher than in the normal tissues, suggesting that ABAD /HADH Ⅱ may play a role in the proliferation of laryngeal squamous cell cancinoma.
