Hydro-dissection combined with nucleus rotation in the capsular bag for posterior capsular opacification

Abstract:

Objective〓〖WTBZ〗To investigate the inhibitive effect of hydro-dissection combined with nucleus rotation in the capsular bag on posterior capsular opacification (PCO) in cataract surgeries. 〖WTHZ〗Methods〓〖WTBZ〗124 eyes were treated with hydrodissection combined with nucleus rotation(group A) and 116 eyes with only hydrodissection (group B) after phacoemulsification with IOL implantation from August 2003 to September 2006. Followed up from 12 to 30 months, differences in incidence and quantification of PCO and incidence of Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy between the two groups were compared. 〖WTHZ〗Results〓〖WTBZ〗PCO incidence rate in groups A and B respectively was 8.06% and 20.69%. Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy was performed in 2.42% and 8.62% of groups A and B. 〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〓〖WTBZ〗Hydrodissection combined with nucleus rotation in the capsular bag is effective in inhibiting PCO after cataract surgeries.
