Analysis on efficacy of treatment of corneal epithelial dysfunction after cataract surgery.

Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of autologous serum combined with artificial tears without preservative in the treatment of corneal epithelial dysfunction after cataract surgery. Methods Twenty-nine patients with corneal epithelial dysfunction after phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation under topical anesthesia were selected as research objects, and treated with autologous serum combined with artificial tears without preservative. The clinical manifestations of patients were observed. Slit-lamp examination and fluorescein vital staining were used to observe the conditions of conjunctival congestion, corneal epithelial repair, recession of epithelial edema and fluorescein staining, and visual function repair was compared before and after treatment. Results About 1 to 2 weeks after treatment, eye irritation symptoms of 29 patients, including ophthalmodynia, foreign body sensation in the eye and photophoby, gradually alleviated and disappeared. Slit-lamp examination revealed that conjunctival congestion improved gradually; Corneal epithelium healed, and the mean healing time was(12.60±3.91)d. Vision improved in varying degree in all cases. Conclusion Autologous serum combined with artificial tears without preservative can promote corneal epithelial healing of patients with corneal epithelial dysfunction after cataract surgery and improve the visual function.
