Abstract: Objective To investigate the modification of endostatin (ES) with low molecular weight heparin (LMEH) and its inhibitory effects on corneal neovascularization(CNV). Methods ES was modified with LMWH by a chemical method. The rabbit CNV model was made with alkali burning. LMWHES(group 1), ES (group 2) and normal saline(control group) were subconjunctivally injected. Results The blood vessel was shorter and smaller in group 1 than in the other two groups(P<0.05) and the expression of VEGF in group 1 was also significantly lower than that of the other two groups(P<0.05). Conclusions LMWHES can effectively inhibit the growth of CNV and is superior to ES.
