Abstract:

To investigate the effect of endothelin 1 on mitosis of HEP 2 cells. MethodsExpression of endothelin receptors on HEP 2 cells was determined by RTPCR and immunohistochemical methods. HEP 2 cell lines were exposed to different concentrations of the endothelin 1, and mitosis of HEP 2 cells was measured by 3ResultsGene expression of the endothelinreceptor was detected by RTPCR. Immunohistochemical studies showed that endothelin receptor immunoreactivity appeared in HEP 2 cells. Addition of endothelin 1 resulted in an increase of DNA synthesis in concentration dependence. ConclusionEndothelin 1 can promote mitosis of HEP 2 cells and may play an important role in the progression of laryngeal carcinoma.
