Abstract:

Objective      To detect expression of IL-17 in the plasma of chronic rhinosinusitis patients, and to investigate the possible role of IL-17 in the mechanism of chronic rhinosinusitis. Methods     All the enrolled patients were divided into 3 groups: the chronic rhinosimusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) group (38 cases), theCRSsNP group (32 cases), and the control group (28 cases). The plasma level of IL-17 was detected by ELISA. Results       ①  The plasma level of IL-17 was 1.6100(1.2575-1.9830) pg/mL in the control group, 8.2483(4.8868-10.1075) pg/mL in the chronic rhinosinusitis group, of which it was 8.2430(6.2778-10.3610) pg/mL in the CRSwNP group and 8.2550(4.8783-10.1650) pg/mL in the CRSsNP group. ②  A significant difference was found between the chronic rhino-sinusitis group and the control group(P<0.05). Expression of IL-17 in the CRSwNP and CRSsNP groups was significantly higher than that in the control group. However, there was no significant difference between the CRSwNP and CRSsNP groups in expression of IL-17. Conclusion     The plasma level of IL-17 in chronic rhino-sinusitis patients was significantly higher than that of normal people, suggesting that IL-17 might play an important role in the development of chronic rhinosinusitis.
