Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship of anatomic abnormality in the nasal cavity and the nasal sinus with chronic sinusitis. Methods 450 patients were divided into the sinusitis group and the control group ( normal group without sinusitis). Prevalence of different anatomic abnormality such as pneumation and paradoxical curvature of the middle turbinate, agger nasi cell, upper nasal septal deviation, haller’s cell, uncinate process hypertrophy and uncinate process shift were calculated and analyzed by computed tomography. Result The prevalence of anatomic abnormality between the two groups was differently significant (P<0.01). Conclusion Anatomic abnormality in the nasal cavity and the nasal sinus may be related to chronic sinusitis.
