Abstract: Objective: To study the expression and clinical significance of receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) and amphoterin in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). Methods: The expressions of RAGE and amphoterin were detected using immunohistochemistry method in 27 tumor tissues from LSCC, which were compared to those in polyp of vocal cord. RAGE and amphoterin mainly located in cytomembrane and cytoplasm, and their intensity were calculated by masculine cell population. Results: The positive expression rate of RAGE in LSCC was significantly higher than that in polyp of vocal cord. The positive expression rate of RAGE in metastatic LSCC was significantly higher than that in nonmetastatic. The positive expression rate of amphoterin was almost in LSCC, which was higher than that in polyp of vocal cord. Conclusion: The expressions of RAGE and amphoterin are related to the invasion and metastasis of LSCC and may be used as potential markers for LSCC metastasis.
