Endscopic surgery for chronic nasosinusitis and nasal polyps in 180 cases

Abstract: To study the curative effect of endscopic sinus surgery(ESS) in treatment of chronic nasosinusitis and nasal polyps. MethodsThe clinical data of 180 cases subjected to ESS from 2003 to 2005 were retrospectively analyzed. Of them, 12 cases were I type grade 1, 15 were Ⅰ type grade 2, 44 were Ⅰ type grade 3, 30 were Ⅱ type grade 1, 43 were Ⅱ type grade 2, 14 were Ⅱ type grade 3 and 22 were Ⅲ type. ResultsThe curative rate was 94.4% for type I, 74.7% for type Ⅱ and 63.6% for type Ⅲ(P<0.01). ConclusionsThe curative effect of ESS was successful. ESS is an effective method in the cure of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. The curative result is directly related to the type of diseases. Experienced technique is most important for a perfect operation, and after the operations, normative treatment can improve the cure rate.
