Vitreo-retinal surgery for severe ocular trauma in 52 cases

Abstract:

Objective〓〖WTBZ〗To explore the effect of vitreo-retinal surgery for severe ocular trauma. 〖WTHZ〗Methods〓〖WTBZ〗52 patients (52 eyes) with severe ocular trauma were treated with vitreo-retinal surgeries from July 2005 to September 2007 in our hospital. Followed up from 6 to 24 months, the retina and eyesight were observed. 〖WTHZ〗Results〓〖WTBZ〗All were successfully operated on. Retinas were completed attached in 48 eyes(92.31%) and partially attached in 3 eyes. Visual acuity was improved in 41 eyes (78.85%) in different degrees and reached 0.1 or better in 27 eyes (51.92%). The best visual acuity was 1.0. 〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〓〖WTBZ〗Vitreo-retinal surgery is an effective method for severe ocular traumas, and with it severely injured eyes can be effectively saved and visual acuity can be improved.
