Abstract: Objective    To explore the prognostic factors of idiopathic macular hole based on form of the macular hole. Method    The clinical data of 30 patients with idiopathic macular hole were retrospectively analyzed. Results    The base diameter and minimum liner diameter of patients with improved visual acuity were smaller than those of patients without improved visual acuity, and there was a negative correlation between those two indicators and prognosis. The difference between height of macular holes had no statistical significance. Conclusion    Base diameter and minimum liner diameter are good indexes for prognosis of idiopathic macular hole.

Key words: Idiopathic macular hole, Vitrectomy, Optical coherence tomography
