Abstract: Objective: To study the expressions of Fas and Bcl2 in nasal polyps and explore the relationship between the two apoptosisrelated proteins in formation of nasal polyps. Methods: Expressions of Fas and Bcl2 were detected with SP immunohistochemical method in 36 nasal polyps and 19 inferior turbinates. Results: (1) The expression of Fas in epithelial cells and epithelial cells of glands was significantly lower in nasal polyps than in inferior turbinates(P<0.05); (2) The expression of Bcl2 in epithelial cells and epithelial cells of glands was significantly higher in nasal polyps than in inferior turbinates (P<0.05); (3) The expressions of Fas and Bcl2 had no correlation with each other in epithelial cells of nasal polyps(P>0.05). Conclusion: (1) Fas and Bcl2 may play important role in theoccurrence and progression of nasal polyps; (2) No relationship is found between Fas and Bcl2 in inhibiting the epithelial cells of glands of nasal polyps.
