Diagnosis and treatment of cervical necrotizing fasciitis: a report of 7 cases and literature review.

Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical characteristic, diagnosis and treatment of cervical necrotizing fasciitis. Methods All 7 cases of cervical necrotizing fasciitis were diagnosed by CT and confirmed in operation. Of them, 2 underwent tracheotomy, neck incision and drainage operation, and the other 5 received neck incision and drainage operation. Postoperative flushing and anti-infection treatment were administered. Results Of all cases, 1 died and the other 6 were cured. During the follow-up of half a year, no relapse occurred. Conclusion For cervical necrotizing fasciitis cases, explorative operation should be timely applied. Incision and drainage of neck abscess can obtain a satisfactory effect and prevent serious complications.
